There's no other answers to the discrepancies except: 1. Louisiana officials spelled what they thought they heard; or 2. He changed his surname to Willis; or 3. She was twice married, 1st to Richard Lee Wells on Mar. 1, 1919, and 2nd to Richard Lee Willis. The 1930 census names them as Richard L. Willis & Virginia, he 41, she 33, 1st marr., he at 30, & she at 22. They weren't found in the 1920 census.
