The informant on his BC was his mom, abt. 74, & she used the 1920 census as verification for his approximate age, and the clerk accepted her statement about the exact date. She should also have known her exact marriage date instead of just Aug. 1876. That casts doubt on the date, especially since the Virginia Marriage Rec. trans. says Aug. 1, 1897. James' WWI draft card says birth Aug. 1, 1897, but his WWII draft card says Aug. 1, 1898. This adds credance to their marriage on Aug. 1, 1896, and validates Roxie's input on his DC.
